Abstract:
Drug-induced liver injury is a critical adverse drug reaction, and its pathogenic spectrum encompass diverse classes of drug such as herbal medicines, antibiotics, and antineoplastics. Its nonspecific clinical manifestations and lack of definitive diagnostic markers hinder timely diagnosis, posing challenges in clinical management.Older individuals are particularly vulnerable owing to their unique physiology, medication preferences, frequent multimorbidity and polypharmacy. This article focuses on research achievements and progress in the field of the diagnosis and management of drug-induced liver injury in older individuals, aiming to improve the understanding of drug-induced liver injury in healthcare providers for older adults, as well as the ability of early identification and timely intervention, to reduce the occurrence of drug-induced liver injury and related adverse events.
