Abstract:
Objective To execute simulation study on aerosol infection risk for disaster relief tents and propose an optimized scheme for patient placement. Methods There were three simulation scenarios designed including opening the triangular roof window, opening the triangular roof window and involving in the high-efficiency particulate air filter(HEPA)and opening all the doors and windows. The spatial and temporal distribution of aerosols in the disaster relief tents and the infection risks of different placement areas were simulated and evaluated with computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and Wells-Riley model, and the effectiveness of ventilation measures, wearing masks and the involvement of HEPA was analyzed for reducing the infection risk. Results Opening windows and using HEPA significantly improved ventilation performance and enhanced aerosol particle expulsion;the infection risk peaked at the patient side in high containment environments, the involvement of HEPA slightly decreased the infection risk in high containment environments, full ventilation resulted in the lowest infection risk and wearing masks enhanced protection efficiency effectively. Conclusion In emergency resettlement, susceptible individuals should be placed in spaces opposite to patients, and masks and HEPA have to be applied to lowering the infection risk.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(4):21-28]
