Clinical analysis of the effects of hyperbaric oxygen on the treatment of 58 cases of acute face neuritis

Abstract:
Objective To observe the effects of HBO combined with comprehensive drug treatment on 58 cases of acute face neuritis.Methods In accordance with the case selection criteria,116 case of acute face neuritis were chosen for the study.With the knowledge and consent of the patients and following the signing of the letter of agreement and with the agreement of the Hospital Ethic Committee,1 16 patients were divided into 2 groups:the experimental group and the control group,each consisting of 58 patients.The patients in the control group were only treated with regular drug treatment,while the patients in the experimental group were offered HBO treatment and regular drug treatment as well.They were all treated for a succession of 3 weeks and observation was made on the therapeutic results of both groups.Results After 3 weeks of treatment,facial nerve function scores for the patients of both groups all increased when compared with those before treatment,with statistical significance (P ＜ 0.01).Scores for the patients in the experimental group were significantly higher than those for the patients of the control group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Comprehensive HBO treatment seemed to produce significant effects in the treatment of acute face neuritis.
