Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Remission Evaluation and Mood Inventory Tool (REMIT) in outpatients with depression. Methods A total of 9 948 depressive outpatients who met with the diagnostic criteria of the 3rd version of Chinese Classification of Mental Disorders (CCDM-3) were included in the study.REMIT were administered at baseline, and week 2,week 4 after baseline, and 509 completed retest within 1 week interval after the first interview. The reliability was evaluated by cronbach' α coefficient and the intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC).The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD17) was administered to test the criteria-related validity and discriminant validity. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and conformative factor analysis (CFA) was used to confine the construction validity. And data from follow-up was used to assess the sensitivity to change. Results The REMIT was found to possess good test-retest reliability (ICC:0.56-0.79),as well as good internal consistency (cronbach α:0.82,item-total score correlaiton coefficents:0.49-0.67).A 2-factor construciton was confirmed. The summary and reduction of REMIT score was both closely correlated with those of HAMD17 score with a coefficent of 0.52-0.73(all P<0.01).The difference of REMIT was statistically significant between patients with varied severity of depressive symptoms at all visits (F=452.7-1 468.4,all P<0.01).The item score and total score of REMIT (baseline:12.5±2.8,week 2:8.5± 2.3,week 4:5.2 ± 2.5) were decreased with treatment (F=11 282.8-32 445.1,all P<0.01),with a high standardized mean difference (1.6-2.7) between pre and post treatment. Conclusion The Chinese version REMIT is good in reliability and validity with sensitivity to change. It can be administered to evaluation the outcome of depression treatment as a complementary tool to symptom assessment, and the REMIT has met the original needs of the designers.
