Abstract:
Primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) is an abnormal accumulation of gas in the pleural cavity without an underlying respiratory disease, excluding trauma or iatrogenic factors. The exact etiology and pathogenesis of PSP have not been clarified. Previous studies have confirmed that meteorological factors and environmental determinants such as atmospheric pollutant exposure can trigger the occurrence of pneumothorax, but no unified conclusion has been reached among different research results. This review summarizes the effects of meteorological factors and air pollutants on primary spontaneous pneumothorax.
