- Abstract: Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)is a neurodevelopmental disorder, with more male patients than female patients. In recent years,an increasing number of studies have begun to focus on the gender differences in brain structure and function among ASD patients.Neuroimaging studies utilizing magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)attempts to explain the neural mechanisms of gender differences in ASD from various perspectives such as brain gray white matter structure, functional activity, and neurometabolism, which is of guiding significance for comprehending the etiology and pathogenesis of ASD,as well as promoting early diagnosis and personalized treatment. This paper reviews the research progress of brain structure and functional neuroimaging in the gender differences of ASD patients respectively,in order to provide reference for the diagnosis of such patients.
