Abstract:
Objective To develop new items of subsystem 1 with high reliability and validity for Air Force pilot selection. Methods By using completely random design,727 pilot candidates were tested by 10 basic cognitive ability tests. The software SPSS 11.0 was used to implement analysis. Results ① Difficulty of each ability test was between 0.55 and 0.89,discriminatory index was between 0.20 and 0.43,and they were consistent with present ability tests of subsystem 1.②Except for the test of understanding and remembering words,split-half reliability of other ability tests was above 0.70.③ The new basic ability tests were extracted by 4 components:attention-memory component; decision-making component; reasoning component and spatial cognitive component. Conclusions The overall average difficulty of basic ability tests is in the middle level and it has certain function to discriminate, for good reliability and construct validity. It would be useful in Air Force pilot selection if the application of validity is improved on some items.
