Abstract:
Objective To explore the mode of polar medical care in future Chinese science explorations of the polar regions. Methods In the light of the shipboard medical care experience during the 7th Arctic exploration and 33rd Antarctic exploration, the effects of special environment during polar science exploration on the physiology and psychology of explorers,as well as the current status of the shipboard medical care were investigated and analyzed in the study. Results With further strengthening of science exploration missions and increasing in the number of explorers in the polar regions, greater demands are required for polar medical support. Conclusions Polar science exploraton is a long and arduous task, for which professional and perfect medical support is a requisite for smooth operation and completion of scientific exploratons. In the future,a perfect medical care system should be gradually established, including the selection of team workers, the training of doctors, the improvement and perfection of medical facilities and equipment,as well as in-depth research on polar medicine. At the same time, cooperations on a gloable scale should be strengthened,so as to perfect the polar medical care system of the country in a gradual process.
