Abstract:
Objective To analyze research hot spots and frontiers in hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) from the perspective of bibliometrics. Methods Relevant data concerning HBO from 2006 to 2015 were retrieved by using Web of Science (WoS) as the database, and statistical analyses were made on the literature published within the said span of years. At the same time, the information visualization software CiteSpace was used for kevword.s co-occurrence analysis, with an aim to find out research hot spots and frontiers in HBO.Results 865 related papers concerning HBO were retrieved, and analysis showed that the accumulated amount of published papers on HBO from 2006 to 2015 displayed an increasing trend.Research hot spots concerning HBO displayed the following features:from the perspective of contents, research hot spots covered such basic research topics as oxidative stress, apoptosis and related mechanisms involved,as well as clinical researches on its practical applications in CO intoxication, cerebral ischemia, necrotic fasciitis, radioactive necrosis, decompression sickness, diabetic foot ulcer and wound treatment. From the standpoint of time, research results revealed that the years from 2006 to 2011 were hot emergence period, the years from 2011 to 2013 were hot dormant period, and the years from 2013 to 2015 were steady development period. Conclusions HBO research is in a mature stage.Clinical application of HBO in wound care and related basic research will be the chief research direction of HBO.
