Abstract:
Objective To investigate an animal model used for the evaluation of the efficiency of the portable hematopneumothorax draining device. Methods Eighteen dogs were equally divided into three groups,i.e.the pure hemathorax group, the pure pneumothorax group, and the prolonged hematopneumothorax group.Following development of the animal model,Chest X-ray film and uhrasonography were implemented to measure the respiratory frequency, heart rate and change pattern of oxygen saturation in peripheries of the experimental animals,pre-experiment,10 min,30 min and 60 min after the development of the model. Results Chest X-ray and ultrasonography revealed that respiratory frequency, heart rate of the three animal groups elevated significantly, while oxygen saturation dropped markedly 10 minutes after the development of the model. However, for the pure hemathorax and pneumothorax groups,no significant differences were noted in the respiratory frequency and oxygen saturation at 10 min,30 min and 60 min after the development of the model. And there were no differences in heart rate, which increased again 30 min after the development of the model, when comparisons were made between the two time points of 30 min and 60 min.Respiratory frequency and heart rate for the prolonged hematopneumothorax group began to decrease and oxygen saturation dropped sharply,30 min after the development of the model. Conclusions This animal model is suitable for the evaluation of the efficiency of the portable hematopneumothorax draining device used in the animal experiments.
