Abstract:
Early childhood development forms the foundation for an individual's lifelong health and capacity building, currently, the health management of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in rural areas faces multiple challenges. From a nursing perspective, this article systematically reviews the core developmental issues of children with ASD and emphasizes the key role of family empowerment in interventions. It analyzes the primary difficulties faced by rural children in parenting and social support. Based on the experience of the "Integrated Early Childhood Development Workshop" initiated by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, the paper introduces a practical pathway for delivering integrated services including assessment, intervention, and empowerment at the grassroots level. The program covers parenting surveys, developmental and behavioral screenings, family guidance and psychological support, professional training, and individualized interventions for children in difficult situations. The article advocates for further strengthening of grassroots service capacity, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, establishing nurse-led parenting care clinics, and integrating parenting services into the public health system to optimize resource allocation and build a supportive ecological environment for child-rearing in primary care settings.
