Abstract:
Objective:To explore the effectiveness of a Checklist-based multifaceted and whole-course nursing in patients undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer. Methods:Convenience sampling was used to select 176 thyroid cancer patients who underwent surgery in Lishui Central Hospital from January 2023 to June 2024 as study subjects. The patients were divided into a control group and an observation group of 88 cases each using the random number table method. Control group practiced a multifaceted and whole-course nursing. Observation group practiced a Checklist-based multifaceted and whole-course nursing. Postoperative complications, duration of drainage tube retention, psychological status, neck and shoulder mobility and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results:The incidence of postoperative complication and duration of drainage tube retention of thyroid cancer patients in observation group were lower than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05) . At discharge, patients in observation group had higher score on the Patient Activation Measure and lower scores on the Social Impact Scale and Thyroid Cancer-Specific Quality of Life than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05) . At discharge, all neck ranges of motion as well as the Constant-Murley Scale score of thyroid cancer patients in observation group were higher than those of control group, and the differences were all statistically significant ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:The Checklist-based multifaceted and whole-course nursing can effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, duration of drainage tube retention, and stigma in thyroid cancer patients, improve the mixed self-management initiative, promote neck and shoulder function, and enhance patients' quality of life.
