Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of hyperbaric oxygen(HBO) on QT dispersion in patients with diabetes. Methods One hundred and two cases of type Ⅱ diabetes patients were divided into the HBO treatment group, i.e. HBO therapy combined with conventional therapy (60 cases) and the conventional therapy control group (42 cases). The HBO treatment group who were to undergo 20 sessions of HBO therapy in 4 weeks, were enrolled in the study. Heart rate, blood pressure, cardiac ejection fraction, serum potassium, fasting blood - glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin were measured both before HBO therapy and after 20 sessions of HBO therapy. At the same time, ECG was made to monitor QT intervals, QTd and QTcd. Results QTc dispersion decreased significantly from(59. 8 ± 17.4) ms to (52. 2± 15.5) ms following 20 sessions of HBO therapy, when they were compared with those of the conventional therapy group (P < 0. 05).Conclusions HBO treatment could decrease QT dispersion in patients with diabetes, and reduce risks of malignant ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death.
