Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of HBO on acute gas poisoning and also its effects on fibronectin, serum albumin, T3 and T4 in these patients. Methods Seventy-six cases were divided into 3 groups: the mild, the moderate and the severe groups. All the patients were treated with HBO in large air compression chamber, and were also given anti - infection and other drug treatment. Levels of plasma fibronectin, serum albumin, T3 and T4 were determined and compared both before and after treatment. Results Of the 76 patients with acute gas poisoning, 58 cases were cured, 14 cases responded very effectively and 4 cases improved. Statistical differences could be seen in the contents of plasma Fn measured before treatment for the 3 groups, when they were compared with those of the normal group (32 healthy donors) (P < 0. 01).Significant differences could also be noted in the contents of Fn measured after treatment, when a comparison was made between of the groups (P <0.05). And no statistical differences could be seen in the levels of serum albumin both before and after treatment, when compared with those of the normal group (P < 0. 05).Conclusions Experiments showed that HBO could produce significant effect on patients with acute gas poisoning. HBO had obvious effect on the content of plasma Fn, while little effect could be seen in serum albumin,T3 and T4 in patients with acute gas poisoning. It might indicate that HBO played an important role in the autonomous recovery of Fn in patients with acute gas poisoning. However its mechanism remained to be explored.
