Abstract:
The physiological process of respiratory and the role of diaphragmatic movement in breathing in children are different from those in adults, especially in infancy. Diaphragmatic dysfunction, including partial diaphragmatic weakness and diaphragmatic paralysis,is prone to appear in critical respiratory illness, such as severe lung inflammation, neuromuscular disease,or long-term mechanical ventilation, and the severity of the condition lacks objective criteria. In recent years, ultrasonography has been more and more widely used to assist rapid clinical assessment of diaphragm function. This review summarized the clinical research and application progress of ultrasonography in pediatrics.
