Abstract:
Acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) is a rare,infection-associated acute encephalopathy that progresses rapidly and is life-threatening.At present, the etiology and pathogenesis of ANE have not been fully clarified. In the early stage of the disease,ANE lacks specific clinical manifestations and there is no specific treatment. As a result, the mortality and disability rates of this disease remain high. Therefore, early identification and active treatment of ANE are of great significance for improving the prognosis of patients. In recent years, new clinical clues have been provided for the early identification and diagnosis of ANE,with the increasing reports of related cases, especially the summary reports of ANE cases secondary to coronavirus disease 2019 and influenza virus infection. This review discussed the early identification and diagnosis of ANE from the aspects of its epidemiology, clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, and imaging characteristics incorporating relevant research progress and clinical diagnosis and treatment experience.
