Abstract:
Pediatric severe pneumonia is characterized by an abrupt onset and swift progression, frequently complicated by serious complications, which is the leading cause of death in children under 5 years old. In recent years, the prevalence of gram-negative bacterial infections in severe pneumonia patients has been on the rise, and the inappropriate use of antibiotics has augmented the resistance of bacteria, thereby complicating their treatment. Therefore, early diagnosis and timely treatment are particularly critical. This review provided the common gram-negative bacteria, risk factors and triggers, microbiological testing methods, resistance mechanism, and treatment in children with severe pneumonia, with the aim of providing clinically useful guidance for pediatricians when treating such patients.
