Abstract:
Paclitaxel drug coated balloon catheter is an important and effective treatment in the field of luminal stenosis,which can deliver the drug precisely to the lesion,inhibiting the proliferation of smooth muscle cells,and reducing the rate of restenosis.Optimizing the drug formulation,reducing the loss of paclitaxel during delivery,improving the transfer rate of paclitaxel in the lesion site,and prolonging the drug's retention time in the tissue,are the core of the development of paclitaxel drug coated balloon catheter.To drug formulation,different dosage forms of paclitaxel,such as amorphous,crystalline,liposome,nanoparticles,etc.,can directly affect the transfer rate of paclitaxel on balloon surface and its metabolic rate in tissue.The use of different ratios and kinds of excipients,such as hydrophilic,lipophilic and amphiphilic,can have different effects on drug adhesion,release speed and retention time in tissues.In addition,the way of paclitaxel loaded on the balloon can also affect the clinical efficacy of the drug coated balloon.
