Abstract:
Endometriosis (EMS) is one of the most common clinical gynecological diseases, which mainly causes dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic pain and infertility. The incidence of EMS in women of childbearing age is as high as 10%, which brings great harm to women's physical and mental health. There are many theories about the pathogenesis of EMS. So far, no single hypothesis can fully explain its occurrence. Numerous studies have demonstrated chronic inflammatory reactions in the peritoneal cavity of patients with EMS, and multiple immune cells and cytokines are involved in this process. Therefore, the role of immune factors in the occurrence and development of EMS has become the focus of recent research. Neutrophils, as the main participants in the process of inflammatory response, have received wide attention in the study of endometriosis. This paper reviews the research progress on neutrophils in EMS.
