Abstract:
This study was aimed at investigating the presence of Raoultella ornithinolytica carrying the blaCTX-M genes in the feces of healthy individuals.A total of 309 fecal samples were collected in Yangzhou City. After enrichment in LB medium, colonies displaying resistance on MacConkey inositol adonitol carbenicillin agar supplemented with 2 mg/L ceftriaxone were screened. The presence of blaCTX-M genes was confirmed by PCR,and the resistance genes and their genetic contexts were ana-lyzed from whole-genome sequencing data.We identified two distinct strains of R.ornithinolytica:one carrying blaCTX-M-14 and the other carrying blaCTX-M-65.Further analysis revealed that blaCTX-M-14 was located on an IncFIB plasmid, whereas blaCTX-M-65 was located on an IncHI2 plasmid.Notably, the transmission of blaCTX-M was facilitated by mobile genetic elements such as ISEcp1 and IS903B.These findings highlight the need for vigilant surveillance of the antibiotic resistance and transmission dy-namics of R.ornithinolytica in healthy individuals,to inform preventive strategies for mitigating the spread of drug resistance.
