Abstract:
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endogenous diseases in women of childbearing age. Its main clinical features are hypertrophy, insulin resistance, ovulation dysfunction and so on, which may lead to the increase of long-term complications risk factors such as diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. At present, the pathogenesis of PCOS includes but not limited to mitochondrial abnormalities, oxidative stress, vitamin D metabolism abnormalities, calcium homeostasis imbalance, but the specific mechanism has not been clarified. This article reviews the recent five years related research progress on mitochondrial abnormality and PCOS in order to provide theoretical basis for further exploration of its pathogenesis and explore more ideas for its treatment.
