Abstract:
Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)represents a group of chronic, nonspecific gastrointestinal disorders, primarily encompassing Crohn′s disease(CD)and ulcerative colitis(UC).The prevalence of comorbid depression is significantly higher among IBD patients compared to the general population. The administration of antidepressants in IBD patients with mood disorders can not only alleviate the IBD-related symptoms such as chronic pain and intestinal dysfunction, but also attenuate the inflammatory responses. These effects collectively contribute to improved prognosis and enhanced quality of life in patients with IBD.This article reviewed progress of research on antidepressants in the treatment of IBD,thereby providing references for the application of antidepressants in the treatment of IBD.
