Abstract:
N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most common RNA modification in eukaryotes, involving in various cellular processes and disease progression through three regulatory factors: methyltransferase, demethylase and methylated reading protein. Recent studies have shown that m6A methylation modification is involved in the whole process of spermatogenesis, and the dysfunction of spermatogenesis caused by its disorder may lead to male infertility. In this review, the temporal and spatial expression of m6A regulatory factors in testis, the mechanism of m6A methylation in spermatogenesis, and the abnormal m6A methylation regulation and male infertility were reviewed, aiming to provide a new direction for the basic research and clinical treatment of male infertility.
