Abstract:
Endometriosis is one of the most common chronic diseases affecting the health of women of reproductive age, etiology and pathogenesis of which are still unclear. Therefore, the establishment of an appropriate animal model is imperative to the promotion of relevant basic research. Rodents are relatively economical, easy to feed, and have similar endometrial structure to humans. The objective of this paper is to compare the advantages and disadvantages among different autologous, homologous and xenotransplanted rodent models on experimental endometriosis in recent four years and factors influencing the success rate of modeling. The utility of models on fluorescent localization models, deep endometriosis and pain-related studies is also elaborated, so as to facilitate the selection of animal models for subsequent in vivo studies on pathogenesis and therapeutic strategies in endometriosis.
