Abstract:
Since the first report of percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty for patients with coronary heart disease in 1977,percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)has been rapidly developed and comprehensively popularized, and is considered to be the most effective method for the treatment of coronary heart disease.Clinical trials have demonstrated that PCI could reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in patients with acute coronary syndrome. However, the effectiveness of PCI in patients with stable coronary artery disease(SCAD)has been controversial. In addition, the rapid development of drugs, interventional devices and diagnostic techniques has continuously challenged the concept of PCI treatment for patients with SCAD.This article reviews the evidence-based medical evidence of PCI for treatment of SCAD,sorts out the changes in the concept of PCI for SCAD at different stages, and looks forward to the future prospects of PCI for SCAD.
