Abstract:
Trace,degraded and mixed DNA evidence have been considered as the challengs in forensic genetics(or forence DNA)identification.Conventional short tandem repeat(STR)typing method based on capillary electrophoresis(CE)plays a role for DNA typing.However,the effectiveness is limited due to the restricted number of genetic markers that can be detected when dealing with complex and difficult evidence.With the continuous development of biotechnology,more and more genetic makers play roles in forensic application.They are using the high-throughput sequencing technologies which is represented by next generation sequencing(NGS)and third-generation sequencing techniques.And they also play an important role in the genotyping of difficult evidence.In this review,we summarized the primary detection methods and applications of high-throughput sequencing technologies in challenging biological samples,and discussed its future development trends as well as application prospects.
