Abstract:
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of swallowing training combined with Vitalstim neuromuscular electrical stimulation in patients with dysphagia after stroke for providing a scientific basis for improving the swallowing function. Methods A total of 100 patients with post-stroke dysphagia were enrolled and randomly divided into control group(n=50,conventional swallowing training)and observation group(n=50,conventional swallowing training+Vitalstim neuromuscular electrical stimulation),with a total treatment course of 3 weeks. The swallowing functions before and after treatment was compared between two groups. Results After treatment, observation group scored lower on the water swallow test and the Rosenbek Penetration-Aspiration Scale(P<0.05),while higher on the Functional Oral Intake Scale and the Functional Independence Measure as compared with control group(P<0.05).In addition, the score of Nutritional Risk Screening 2002(NRS2002)was higher in observation group than in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of swallowing training and Vitalstim neuromuscular electrical stimulator can effectively improve the swallowing function of stroke patients and has high clinical application value, worthy of further promotion and research.
