Abstract:
Organoid technologies have advanced rapidly in recent years, with an increasingly broad range of applications in clinical practice. Currently, liver transplantation faces multiple challenges, including donor liver shortage, immune rejection, and postoperative complications. Liver organoid transplantation has emerged as a complementary therapeutic strategy for liver transplantation. This article systematically reviews and analyzes relevant domestic and international literature, providing a comprehensive overview of research progress on liver organoids in the field of liver transplantation. The review summarizes recent developments in organoid research, clinical applications, and existing challenges-from the evolution, construction, and classification of organoids to associated ethical considerations-while also discussing alternative therapeutic approaches such as artificial liver support systems and cell transplantation. Finally, this review offers perspectives on the future development of organoid technologies and proposes ideas and recommendations for subsequent research.
