Abstract:
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) provides advanced life support for neonates with cardiopulmonary failure by diverting blood through an external circuit where it is oxygenated and returned to the body, enabling survival through critical illness and facilitating recovery. Ultrasonography enables comprehensive visualization throughout neonatal ECMO support, aiding in early detection and management of complications while supporting precision care. This review summarizes the applications of ultrasonography in neonatal ECMO support.
