Abstract:
Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)is a common disease in elderly male. The lower urinary tract symptoms caused by BPH have some common physiological mechanism with male sexual dysfunction. At present, minimally invasive surgeries have become one of the effective ways to treat BPH.Surgeries using electricity and laser as energy platforms can fully remove the gland and seem to have little effects on the erectile function, but they increase the risk of ejaculation abnormalities.Other minimally invasive procedures seem to protect erectile function while protecting ejaculation function, but they are unable to remove the proliferative gland as effectively as procedures using electricity and laser.Exploring effective methods of relieving urinary tract obstruction and protecting male sexual function is still the direction of clinical efforts.
