Abstract:
Primary liver cancer is one of the malignant tumors, which develops rapidly and has an insidious onset. Its occurrence and development may be caused by multiple factors. Glucose is metabolized through the pentose phosphate pathway to produce 5-phosphoribose and reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH). NADPH and enzymes related to the pentose phosphate pathway have significant influences on liver cancer. This article reviews the effects of the products of the pentose phosphate pathway and related enzymes on the proliferation, invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis, radiotherapy and chemotherapy of liver cancer, and summarizes the influence of the pentose phosphate pathway on liver cancer.
