Abstract:
Objective To investigate the status and influencing factors of pain catastrophizing in patients after hip replacement surgery in order to provide a reference for pain management strategy. Methods A total of 162 patients to undergo hip arthroplasty from January to December 2023 were selected using the convenience sampling method.A general information questionnaire, visual analogue scale(VAS),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),Harris hip score(HHS),pain self-efficacy questionnaire(PSEQ),social support rating scale(SSRS)and the pain catastrophizing scale(PCS)were used to analyse influencing factors of pain catastrophizing. Results A total of 154 participants completed the survey. The PCS of patients after total hip replacement was(26.40±6.45),which was generally in the medium level. The factors that influence pain catastrophizing of the patients included age, preoperative VAS score, preoperative SAS score, preoperative HSS score and self-efficacy(all P<0.05),toally explaining 52.2%its variance. Conclusion Elderly patients with higher scores in VAS,SAS,self-efficacy and lower HSS are susceptible to severe pain catastrophizing after hip arthroplasty. In clinical practice, nurses should comprehensively assess the influencing factors and adopt targeted pain management strategies to reduce the pain catastrophizing experienced by the patients and improve the quality of life.
