Abstract:
The small intestine is located in the digestive tract area between the Trotter′s ligament and the ileocecal valve. Due to its deep position, it was once regarded as the " black box" of the entire digestive tract. Bleeding originating from the small intestine is often difficult to be detected by routine endoscopic examination, and in the past, diagnosis mainly relied on imaging methods. With the application of endoscopic techniques such as capsule endoscopy and balloon-assisted enteroscopy, the small intestine has achieved visual examination, and these techniques have now become the main force in small intestine examination. Different small intestinal examination methods each have their own advantages. Reasonable selection based on clinical conditions can help identify the cause of bleeding and locate the lesion as early as possible, thereby enabling timely intervention, improving the prognosis of patients and optimizing the allocation of medical resources.
