Abstract:
Objective:To provide an overview from the perspective of the "treating pre-disease" ideology by discussing the differential diagnosis and aromatic herbs treatment of multi-system functional disorders in the human body caused by special confined environments such as spacecraft and submarines, and anticipating the prospects of applying traditional aromatic herbs to intervene in the physiological and psychological health of the human body in special confined environments.Literature resource and selection:Literatures subjected on the prevention and treatment of diseases in spacecraft or submarine environments, aromatic herbs, and traditional Chinese medicine′s "treating pre-disease" published in China and abroad.Literature quotation:Sixty-five references were cited.Literature synthesis:From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine′s "treating pre-disease", the diseases induced by specific confined environments, such as spacecraft and submarines, result from an imbalance of yin and yang, mainly the deficiency syndromes and exhibit a certain degree of complexity. Based on the "treating pre-disease" philosophy, the use of aromatic herbs for differentiated treatment of related diseases takes dietary regulation, constitution adjustment, and aroma therapy as the effective preventive measures. These approaches not only reduce the potential risk of injuries and illnesses of personnel but also conserve healthcare resources.Conclusions:As Chinese medicine aromatic herbs have the advantages on regulating multiple systems, layers, and targets, and those bring a new thought on balancing yin and yang for human being stayed in specific confined environment. With the "treating pre-disease" philosophy, its application exhibits a broad prospect on human adaptation and protection.
