Abstract:
Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is a diffuse brain dysfunction caused by sepsis involving the central nervous system, with main clinical manifestations as altered consciousness and cognitive impairment. As a crucial brain region for cognitive function, the hippocampus is closely associated with SAE development through abnormal neural networks. This article reviews the research progress on hippocampal neural network abnormalities in SAE, aiming to provide new ideas for clinical treatment of SAE.
