- Abstract: Neurocognitive dysfunction has been identified in major depressive disorder (MDD), and can potentially impair an individual′s psychosocial functioning. Consequently, the relationship between neurocognition and psychosocial functioning of MDD has gradually become one of the hot spots in recent years. Studying the association can help explore the biological basis of psychosocial functioning in depression, allows for underpinnings, targeted clinical interventions, and ultimately achieves true rehabilitation. This article summarises studies on the specific relationships between subfields of neurocognitive and psychosocial function in MDD, and discusses potential future research directions.
