Abstract:
Bipolar disorder typically onset during adolescence and is featured with recurrent episodes and chronicity. The clinical management of bipolar disorder aims to enhance cure rates and reduce recurrence rates. With the rapid advancement of digital digital healthcare, digital phenotype approach shows promise in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of bipolar disorder, presenting both new opportunities and challenges. This approach captures real-time physical, psychological, and activity data from patients. Previous studies have initially validated the usefulness of digital phenotype in the diagnosis, treatment, management, and epidemiological surveillance of bipolar disorder. However, as a novel diagnostic and treatment tool, the application of digital phenotype faces challenges related to data privacy and security, technical reliability and validity, algorithmic iteration and model optimisation, as well as interdisciplinary cooperation and integration. Simultaneously, it has to address critical issues in the clinical management of bipolar disorder. Digital healthcare based on digital phenotype is poised tocomprehensively promote the accessibility, efficiency, and justification of bipolar disorder diagnosis and treatment.
