Abstract:
Psychiatric rehabilitation promotes the recovery and social reintegration of individuals with severe mental disorders. It aims to improve their quality of life and enable them to study, work, and socialize according to their own needs and values. This paper analyses and summarizes the development of national, provincial, and municipal psychiatric rehabilitation policies from August 1995 to April 2023. Psychiatric rehabilitation has received increasing attention over the past 28 years. Relevant policies have expanded the scope, continuously improved the system, and made the contents more specific. However, challenges remain including uneven resource distribution, continuity problems, and social prejudice. In the future, China′s psychiatric rehabilitation system needs to improve by strengthening theoretical research, innovating the form and content of services, and intensifying public education on the disease. This will promote the comprehensive development of psychiatric rehabilitation in China.
