Abstract:
Depression is a common mental illness with high prevalence, high recurrence, high disability rate and high suicide rate, it significantly undermines the quality of life and social functioning of individuals. Clinical studies have confirmed that patients with depression have significant cognitive impairment, including memory impairment. Fortunately, these impairments are reversible, and memory function typically recovers as depressive symptoms improve. However, in most cases, the negative impact of antidepressants on memory function has been much ignored. Studies have shown that long-term use of antidepressants impacts memory function in patients with depression, and the effect varies among antidepressants. The purpese of this article is to comprehensively examine studies exploring the impact of antidepressants on memory function, aiming to establish a theoretical foundation for the selection of appropriate antidepressant treatments in both short and long-term scenarios.
