Abstract:
This article describes a female patient with treatment-resistant schizophrenia (TRS) who experienced persistent auditory hallucinations and self-laughter. Despite receiving adequate amounts and courses of risperidone and aripiprazole, the patient′s symptoms remained poorly controlled. The combined use of amisulpride and olanzapine resulted in hypotension and elevated levels of amisulpride in the blood. However, after switching to bunanserin in combination with low-dose olanzapine, the patient′s symptoms improved significantly. This case report aims to guide the rational use of medication in TRS patients who have poor tolerance to traditional therapies.
