- Abstract: Chronic rhinosinusitis is a common rhinologic disease mainly characterized by long-term nasal inflammation and mucus abnormalities. As the main component of mucus, mucins plays an important role in protecting the normal structure of cells, maintaining viscosity and recognizing cells, which also participates in the formation of the anti-inflammatory immune barrier of the nasal mucosa. In recent years, with the in-depth development of molecular biology and immunology, the role of mucins in the pathogenesis of chronic rhinosinusitis has received extensive attention. This article mainly reviews the mechanism of mucins in the pathogenesis of chronic rhinosinusitis.
