Abstract:
Social motivation deficits are the main manifestation of negative symptoms in schizophrenia. In this review, characteristics of social motivation in schizophrenia based on different motivational components were summarized. There were social motivation deficits in schizophrenia including various deficits of reward learning, the experience of pleasure and effort-based decision making; these motivation deficits were associated with structural and functional abnormalities of some brain regions which may link with social interaction network, such as the cingulate cortex, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, striatum and so on. New task paradigms and multi techniques could be considered in the research of their social motivation in the future to better understand the neural mechanism behind, and develop clinical interventions for the negative symptoms in schizophrenia.
