Abstract:
Epidemiological studies indicate that the use of antipsychotics in pregnant women has progressively increased. However, the safety evidence about antipsychotics use during pregnancy is scarce. The plausibility of antipsychotics use during pregnancy remains controversial. No antipsychotic has been approved for use during pregnancy by the National Medical Products Administration and Food and Drug Administration. Embryotoxicity of antipsychotics cannot be excluded. Currently, limited clinical and basic research evidence suggests that the use of antipsychotic drugs during pregnancy may have potential adverse effects on the long-term neurodevelopment of offspring.
