Abstract:
Ischemic stroke is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Atherosclerotic plaque plays a critical role in the pathogenesis and progression of ischemic stroke. Detecting carotid plaques and assessing their risks accurately and timely is crucial for implementing proper clinical strategies and preventing ischemic stroke. Ultrasound serves as a frontline imaging modality for evaluating the carotid artery;however,its reliance on operator dependence introduces significant subjectivity in measurement and diagnosis,leading to inconsistency in detection and diagnostic rates. In recent years,with the development of artificial intelligence(AI)in the field of ultrasound images,it has certain potential in carotid plaque diagnosis and risk assessment. This paper reviews the application of AI in the field of carotid artery based on ultrasound images.
