Abstract: The terms "autoimmune epilepsy" "autoimmune-related epilepsy" and "epilepsy associated with autoimmune encephalitis" have been widely used in clinical practice. This article aims to interpret the background of emergence, practical applications of these terms by reviewing relevant literature and achieve a scientific understanding without misuse, overdiagnosis and overtreatment.
