Abstract:
Parainfectious encephalopathy is a group of acute encephalopathy syndromes secondary to systemic infectious diseases, especially respiratory virus infection. Parainfectious encephalopathy is not caused by direct invasion of the central nervous system by viruses, nor is it a specific autoimmune encephalitis mediated by adaptive immunity. It may be related to inflammatory syndromes caused by cytokine storms and individual genetic factors. Parainfectious encephalopathy has diverse clinical features, and it can be classified into 11 phenotypes. The mortality and disability rates of severe phenotypes are high. Timely diagnosis and immunotherapy can help improve prognosis.
