Abstract:
Artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping both the research focus and clinical practice of laboratory medicine. Leveraging multi-dimensional, structured laboratory data, algorithm models like machine learning are forging a new class of " laboratory digital biomarkers." These biomarkers are redefining the role and value of lab data in the clinical decision-making pathway. It is crucial to examine the conceptual evolution and emerging trends of these biomarkers, analyzing their core advantages and current challenges. The research featured in this issue is noteworthy, as it contributes to the collective effort of establishing a robust framework for the development and application of digital laboratory biomarkers in our field.
