Abstract:
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune disease characterized by abnormal activation of the immune system, leading to damage of the body′s own tissues and organs. The exact mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of SLE remain incompletely understood. Increasing evidence underscores the significant role of dietary and nutritional factors in the onset, progression, and management of SLE. Modifications in dietary patterns and nutritional interventions offer a promising strategy for improving clinical outcomes and enhancing the quality of life in patients with SLE. This article synthesizes recent basic and clinical research on the impact of various nutritional elements and dietary approaches on the development, progression, and treatment of SLE. It also explores the mechanisms at different levels, aiming to provide valuable insights for future research in this area.
