- Abstract: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic, relapsing immune-mediated disease. Patients with IBD are at significantly increased risk of anxiety and depression, with possible mechanisms including genetic susceptibility, brain-gut axis and dysbiosis. This review summarizes the latest research progress on the epidemiology, risk factors, mechanisms and treatment of anxiety and depression in IBD patients.
