Abstract:
In recent years, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has shown significant progress in the research and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, challenges remain in evaluating its efficacy and clinical adoption due to methodological heterogeneity. Since 2023, Europe, the United States, and China have issued a series of guidelines and consensus statements on FMT for IBD, addressing its background, therapeutic goals, and principles. The 2025 Chinese consensus on FMT for IBD integrates the experience of China's largest FMT treatment center and the latest global evidence, with a focus on standardizing FMT methodologies. This article highlights key methodological aspects from the consensus and compares them with recent international guidelines, aiming to enhance clinicians' understanding of FMT principles, advance clinical practice, and promote standardized and evidence-based FMT applications in IBD management.
